The three leading Apaches fall back and three Hueys replace them in formation. From each side of the Hueys' open-door bays flares are discharged in rapid succession. This exercise is usually performed as a decoy against heat-seeking projectiles, but in this instance it is mostly for show. The humming grows louder as the squadron approaches, the attack helicopters pulling back and the transports, mainly Chinooks, move forward in order to land first and unload their passengers and cargo.
((For reference, here is a list of vehicles:
AH-64D Apache Longbows: 6
AH-1W SuperCobras: 6
OH-58 Kiowa Warriors: 6
UH-1D Iroquois (Hueys): 3
CH-47 Chinooks: 3
V-22 Osprey: 1))
